Los Angeles, February 25, 2004 – D.I.Y., The “Do It Yourself” Network, chose creative branding firm TAG to design the on-air packaging for two of its upcoming new series, “Fresh from the Garden” and “Pottery.”
Working closely on both projects with D.I.Y. Creative Director Todd Decker, TAG Creative Director Jim Kealy was excited to design show packages for such a unique brand. “Clarity of information is so important in the DIY brand,” said Jim Kealy, Creative Director. “Our design used crisp color and a linear step-by-step animation style that will be a comfort to viewers who want to roll up their sleeves and follow along.”
TAG developed a visual communication style for these projects that fit well with D.I.Y.’s ‘&how-to’ approach to viewers. “Fresh from the Garden” walks viewers through the steps necessary to yield a healthy garden. Using the idea of “growth” as a central theme, TAG Creative Director Jim Kealy used an animated “time-lapse” effect to vividly illustrate the growth cycle of a vegetable garden from seed to harvest. This narrative concept was carried through to multiple elements in the package including a program open, lower-thirds, teases, bumpers and other informational elements.
The DIY “Pottery” Workshop educates viewers about the materials and techniques involved in this popular craft. Using a spinning potters wheel as inspiration, the animation fluidly forms a ceramic work-in-progress, with each step in the process pinpointed along the way.
“Fresh from the Garden” and “Pottery” will premiere this Spring on the D.I.Y. Network.
